Frequently Asked Questions
How long do fermented vegetables last after opening?
Fermented vegetables can last two years or more after opening. Since our jars are not vacuum-sealed or heat-processed, opening them doesn’t significantly impact their shelf life.
The key to preserving fermented foods is keeping them submerged in brine to prevent exposure to oxygen, which can cause spoilage. If your jar runs low on liquid, you can make more by dissolving 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of water and adding enough to cover the vegetables.
As always, trust your nose—fermented foods are naturally safe and should remain good for a long time.
Are your products Certified Organic?
Yes and no. We are transitioning our product line to organic certification. While many of our products are already certified organic, a few will not be available as organic until 2026.
However, all of our ingredients are certified organic:
Our vegetables come from a community of certified organic farms in Wrenshall, MN.
Our herbs and spices are sourced from Frontier Co-op and are certified organic.
Our ginger is supplied through Co-op Partners Warehouse and is also certified organic.
